Summer School on Document Image Processing

Indian Institute of Science in its Centenary Celebrations is conducting a Summer School on Document Image Processing in collaboration with HP Labs India. This School emphasizes practical implementation based learning.

In recent years, document image processing has gained a lot of importance for reasons of creating a seamless experience between the Paper World and the Digital World. However, the literature and tools of Document Image Processing are scattered across multiple research communities. This school aims to bring together experts from across the world to share their knowledge through classroom and laboratory sessions. It also creates an avenue for future researchers to interact with practising researchers.

The first part of the School builds up the necessary basics in image processing and the second part of the School will specifically focus on document image analysis and recognition, including Indian language documents. The lab exercises are meant to give hands-on training in implementing image processing algorithms.

This School will be of immense value to anyone committed to a long-term, technical career in Image Processing. Participants will be selected by a Technical Committee, consisting of both academic and industrial researchers.

Arrangements would be made for the participants staying inside the IISc Campus to have informal, evening meetings, which are meant to create collaborative research projects among participants, graduate students identifying potential research areas for doctoral pursuit, etc.
